The next step to achieve the final product is to provide surface treatment to the aluminium part. The ideal and optimal surface treatment for aluminium is achieved by anodizing. This fully automated process allows the production of parts in almost any colour, with a shiny or matt effect, while providing protection and improving its finish.
In recent years, TESEM has made major investments in its anodizing process and has integrated the latest technology and expert Chemical Engineers. Two fully automated anodizing lines and a NEW monitored manual and testing line are installed in one of the company’s plants in Torelló. Over 275 Million aluminium parts are anodized annually.
Anodizing is an electrochemical process that modifies the metal surface and provides colour, corrosion resistance and improved finishing. Anodized aluminium parts are unbeatable in terms of visual characteristics and acquire tough surface protection.
The anodizing process involves immersing the aluminium parts in an acid electrolyte bath and passing an electric current through the medium. A cathode is fitted inside the anodizing tank and the aluminium parts act like anodes in an electrical circuit. Anodizing is, therefore, a fully controlled oxidation process -the enhancement of a natural phenomenon.
